Detroit Drives Degrees 2020
Client: Detroit Regional Chamber Foundation
Detroit Drives Degrees is a collective impact initiative that’s spearheading the Detroit Regional Talent Compact. Through the leadership of the Detroit Regional Chamber, businesses, colleges, K-12 systems, nonprofits, state leaders, and foundations are pledging to adopt strategies that will position Detroit’s tri-county region to achieve two goals by 2030: 1) reaching 60 percent degree or credential attainment and 2) reducing the racial equity gap by half. With a unified approach, it can be done.
We’re committed to lifelong learning as one of our core values, so naturally, we are big supporters of the Sixty by 30 movement in Michigan. We have partnered with various education-based organizations over the last few years to assist them in their efforts to reach this goal and were delighted when the Detroit Regional Chamber reached out to us as they announced the launch of the Detroit Regional Talent Compact.
No single organization can meet these ambitious goals alone. It takes a coalition to make a collective impact. Each organization that signs the compact pledges to own a piece of the blueprint. For example, hospitals expand apprenticeship programs, K-12 schools provide more equitable access to dual enrollment opportunities, higher education institutions agree to scale debt forgiveness efforts, and foundations pledge the early resources to begin to implement the strategies. Innovation and commitment are at the heart of this project. It was an honor to partner with the Detroit Regional Chamber to tell their story and inspire action.
